During the spring, summer, and fall, every biological process that occurs in a pond is dependent upon oxygen. This is especially important in warmer temperatures and at night when plants are not converting sunlight into oxygen.

During the winter, it is important to keep a small hole in the pond ice to allow for oxygen to enter and for carbon dioxide to exit.

• Important Information

  Please note: although the air compressors are weather-proof, it is recommended that during winter the unit be protected from accumulating snow and ice. The simplest method is to use a large and heavy flower pot with drainage holes. Other methods include placing the unit in a garage, gazebo, or under a deck, or making a breathable weatherproof cover from wood or rock.
